Newspaper report

The above teams met on the Fremantle Oval, on Saturday, in the presence of a small attendance. The game throughout was slow and uninteresting, the visiting team being completely overmatched. The weather was bright and cool, with a light south-easterly wind, which favoured the side kicking through the pavilion goals. Lemon, who had resigned his position as field umpire to the Association, played for East Fremantle. The home team led off with the wind at their backs, and with the exception of one short period, during which Coward got a goal for Perth, the visitors were continually on the defensive. East Fremantle scored 3 goals and 3 behinds during the first quarter, and for the rest of the game they did pretty well what they liked with their opponents. Goal after goal was added to the Easts score with monotonous regularity, whilst Perth never even had a shot for goal during the second and third quarters. The main object of the home team was to "feed" Wakely, who is in the lead for the goal-kicking trophy, and the anxiety of the forwards to pass to that player prevented them from scoring at an even faster rate than they did. In the last quarter Perth got a second goal, but no further scoring was done by the visitors, who were defeated in hollow fashion by 104 points to 12. East Fremantle put up a record for the season by scoring 15 goals 14 behinds, Wakely kicking five for the former. For the winners, Christy, Thomas, S Sweetman, Harnett, Wakely, Hendricks, S. Doig, F.Cooper and Chittleborough were all in their best form, whilst those on the Perth side who did their best to avert defeat were Orr, Kane, Whelan, Coward, Crase, Glaskin and Clark.
Goal-kicker's: East Fremantle: Wakely, 5; Harnett, 4; Christy, 3; S. Doig, 2; Browning, 1.
Perth: Coward and Jack 1.
