Newspaper report

There was a fair attendance on the Fremantle Oval on Saturday to witness a match between the North Fremantle and Subiaco teams. The proceeds of the match were set apart for charities. Subiaco entered the field several men short and remained short during the afternoon. The red, white, and blues had a strong team out, and, to say the best of the match, they had some excellent practice. The spectators who were present, though perhaps not altogether satisfied with the football exhibited by two senior teams, nevertheless found plenty of amusement in the game at intervals, if it can rightly be termed a game, for it was nearly a goal-shooting event by the Norths. They have probably put up a record in the Association matches by defeating their opponents by 174 points to 10. Cooper kicked 14 of the 25 goals registered by North Fremantle, but he was continually fed by the other players. The onlookers derived some diversion from the goal-kicking of the winners, by urging Subiaco on in their endeavour to at least record one goal. Whichever way Norths were kicking, the whole of the players were centred in that half of the ground. On one occasion, when the play hovered over the centre line, one facetious barracker suggested that the Subiaco man who had possession of the ball should send the leather to the forwards. With a kick the player forwarded the ball in the direction where the forwards should have been, but there was not a footballer in that half of the ground. The Subiaco man chased the ball, which was bouncing towards the goal, and two Norths followed him in close proximity. They proved fleeter of foot than he and he was overtaken two yards in front of the sticks. and hustled out of the way, while the ball rolled behind. Subiaco, however. secured their first goal in the last quarter, Keane, from a free kick, sending the ball through.
The goal-kickers were: Norths - Cooper (14), Mitchell (4), Pierce (2), Craig
(2), Bee, Earnshaw, and Laing (1).
Subiaco: Keane.
W. McIntyre acted as central umpire.
